Visual Branding 101 (pt. 5) - Building Trust through Honesty

After spending the last four weeks discussing your aesthetics and the importance of having a strong visual brand, I have some news. Having a perfectly curated Instagram feed is not enough to advance your business. Once a unique differentiator, a perfect feed has become the norm . So in a world of perfection, how do we set ourselves apart?

I know you are talented, passionate, and full of life. I know you have a point of view, life experiences, and opinions. The key to standing out from the crowd is by sharing more of yourself with the world. It’s time to bring your authentic self into your business and branding. Not only because it will make it infinitely easier to know what to say and how to say it, but because your ideal audience will connect with your honesty, and that connection will lead to a thriving business. But where’s the line between authentic, vulnerable, and helpful to overshare and TMI?

A lot of it lies in what you feel comfortable sharing, but also keeping your audience at the heart of your posting. Being honest on social media is about building trust with your audience. Showing who you are and what you care about will make it easy for your ideal audience to relate to you, get to know you on a personal level, and feel invested in your business. They will feel a part of your life and celebrate your wins with you. What’s even better? Being yourself is 10,000 times easier than trying to be someone you’re not. We know that to be true in life, and it’s true on social media, too.
